Winter Blues......Well I Suppose They Are More Greys...

So my ultrasound got cancelled for the 23rd and I am scheduled elsewhere for the 5th of Feb. Poor hubby was very disappointed and I can otally understand why. I have now heard the baby's heartbeat several times now, I can feel its first movements. He wants to see it, be a part of it. Poor guys, this kinda thing has to be tough on them.

We are going to put off the move until May. I was gunning for April, but seeing as I can't really do much of the "moving" either way, I figured I'd let Mike have his way.

Finished the book "Rhett Butler's People" and I LOVED it. I really loved "Gone with the Wind" so I admit to being skeptical of this new add-on, as it were. But it was terrific! I could hardly put it down. If you liked GWTW you should read this book, which tells the story of Rhett, starting before he ever met Scarlett. Thanks JUlie for the great read!! Now if I could only finish "Brick Lane" and "Thin Place", the later being utter annoying in how small the chapters are and how they are dedicated to different characters and jump around from one to the next.....argh.

And I am frustrated. I bought something online - not at a store, but you know, off someone. And they shipped it Expresspost - very good. But the item was never delivered here when its tracking status said "out for delivery" and now it says its being redirected to the receipents NEW address. I don't have a new address!!!! I double checkedthe paypal invoice to make sure my address was correct and it was. Argh this sort of this ticks me off. Hopefully it will all get resolved. This could be why I am up at 4am.......my mind just won't let go..............

Elusive Little Rascal.....

So on December 19th I got to hear a heartbeat for two seconds before the little rascal decided to hide and we unable to find it again. Not long enough to make it incredibly real.
January 23rd will be my first ultrasound. And I am terrified. Could be those dreams that I have where I display all the signs of pregnancy but when they do an ultrasound there is no baby there. Then there is always the worry that something won't be right. *sigh*

Anyways Christmas was wonderful, even though I have been a bit under the weather of late. It was great to see my parents, and have a nice long visit this time. It was a pyjama christmas, I got like 5 pairs!! Which is wonderful because I figure I shall live in them next year! And Mike got me SPA gift certificates - how wonderful!!!!! Very excited to use those!

And tonight is New Years!! Hoping all my friends and family have a wonderful new year!! Hope Julie will have an awesome trip (you can follow it on her blog!) and I can't wait to see her photos and hear her stories!!!

Winter Wonderland

Well its beginning to look alot like Christmas.....

Got some Christmas shopping done today. Will continue to clean this weekend and hopefully get the craft room done up so I can start Holiday crafting!

Next week we are going to see the Trans Siberian Orchestra, and I am so excited!

As well, I had another doctor's appointment today and all is progressing well. If I am still feeling incredibly tired and lethargic by my next appt. they are going to do some more investigating. We are at about 11 1/2 weeks now! And the next appointment is going to be very exciting!

The Purge - In the beginning......

So I am trying to get my house clean enough for me to be comfortable over the holidays. Which means cleaning out the basement to house the mess making dog for when we are both at work. I am covered in dust and have been doing all the work myself, with the exception of dragging some boxes up and down the stairs. Because he can't just see what needs to be done - he needs constant instruction and supervision when cleaning. Thankfully this doesn't seem to carry over to his career and such.

So I am trying to get rid of anything I really don't need. I managed to condense my 3 tubs of paper "ephemera" down to less than a tub. And I have much to take to Value Village. I am finally letting go of the antique "couples" chair. Its so shredded and covered in animal "Stuff" I just don't want to look at it anymore. I once had lofty dreams to have it reupholstered in terry cloth so it could sit in the large bathroom I would have one day. Haha one day. Well its time to start letting go of things that I don't really need to keep.

Found a bunch of stuffed animals packed in storage and I am in the process of cleaning them. Some went in the washing machine, others I am going to have to vaccum and air out. I shall have to go to my cleaning resource to see how to get them clean enough for my liking to be able to inhabit the baby's room.

Decided that this year we shall buy a new tree when they go on sale after Christmas me thinks. Ours is old and tired and the box is falling apart.

After Christmas we are probably giving our 2 months notice and moving into 3 bedroom digs. We don't want to change our open door policy to friends and family and really need the spare bedroom/craft room area.

So it has been forever. Since I posted. Its not that I haven't been reading. I think I got bored posting solely about reading. So I think I shall change that, seeing as there are many changes in my life now. I am on the great journey of pregnancy, and it is an adventure! SO I think I shall write about that, about my home and more about FOOD! But there will still be bits about reading too, I can't just drop that altogether.

Catching up......

So I have been very lax in updating my blog. I guess its because I hate sounding dreadfully boring and I don't always know what to write about the books I have read. Well I am also growing a spine, for those of you who aren't in-the-know.......so I shall write whatever pleases me!

"A Long Walk Home" by Diane Amos. I finished this book in a mere 2 hours (if that). An incredibly easy read as it requires no thinking. Your typical disfunctional family coming to grips and wheee! a happy ending book. Had its cute moments. I loved the photo for the cover though - I am a sucker for cute rainboots.

"Japanese Schoolgirl Inferno: Tokyo Teen Fashion Subculture Handbook" by Patrick Macias and Izumi Evers. Moderately interesting, as any book about a "movement" or "fashion" in which the writer is not intimitely involved can be. I don't think an outsider can give a really good accurate description of a style or movement because they have a somewhat stereotyping/discriminating viewpoint. This book could really have done without the pages dedicated to "Must Items" and "Ideal Boyfriend". It was interesting and the phototgraphs were neat but not as nice as the ones from magazines.

"Song of Kali" by Dan Simmons. A very intersting, disturbing book about religion and culture. Very discriptive and chilling, Simmons writing always paints a detailled picture for the reader. He at times is almost poetic in nature as well. Kali was also the goddess in "Lamb" the Joshua and Biff save sacrificial children from. Seeing as Kali has many forms, one of them being Parvarti I am having a difficult time - as Parvarti is also a goddess/figure in Yoga practices and religion. The sharing of goddess' and whatnot between religions muddles the lines and sometimes confuses me greatly.....

"The Hundred Secret Senses" by Amy Tan was an excellent read. A story of blended and mixed culture family, the senses that we ignore and past lives. About how we percieve ourselves better when we are more "educated" or speak better English than those who don't, when we could really learn alot from those we tend to look down on. How hard it is to be different.

I am love, love, LOVING "eat, pray, love" by Elizabeth Gilbert. It has made me laugh, made me cry but best of all, it has made me THINK...........I can't wait to finish. I want to say so much about this book and what it has caused me to contemplate.......

I'm IT!

Eep I have been (dumdumdum) TAGGED!

Ahh but first the rules!

1. Link to your tagger and post these rules.
2. Share 5 facts about yourself
3. Tag 5 people at the end of your post and list their names (linking to them).
4. Let them know they’ve been tagged by leaving a comment at their Blogs.

Interesting.....um......sure.....

1. I have played the bagpipes for nearly 20 years now. I have played at the Worlds Highland Games in Scotland, the North American Championships in Maxville, Ontario and have travelled to Korea to play as an Arts and Culture Rep. for my hometown. I have played weddings, funerals, tea parties, charity events, birthday parties and other events. Now that I no longer play with a pipeband, I find it hard to watch a pipeband play in concert, competition or parade. I suppose it tugs at my heartstrings.

2. I collect articulated dolls from Japan. There my secret is out. I don't own many as they are expensive. That and I feel kind of silly, collecting dolls at my age, but I suppose it could be worse. I could collect shrunken human heads or something.

3. I have eaten alligator and it has the same texture as chicken, but tastes slightly different.

4. I am addicted to coffee. And lattes. And cappacinos. Aw hell if there is cafffeine and some foam in it, I'll drink it.

5. I have posed for a nude calendar. It was to help raise funds for my graduating class' art show. I never even bought a copy of the calendar, but I do have the photo on file.

CONSIDER YOURSELVES TAGGED! (I have only 2 other friends with "blogs" the rest have livejournals, which would require a whole other post over there. I am not that ambitious tonight.
